Tasting Tasting

My sense of smell has slowly been returning. It’s definitely not at 100%, but it’s also not a complete blank wall like it’s been the past week or so.

Despite a lingering cough, Liz and I broke open one of the Christmas gifts that she had gotten me: two bottles from Bunnahabhain distillery.

From our original visit back in 2021, Liz had gotten a bottle that was heavier on the sherry side and mine was slightly more peated.

For her gift to me, she got two different casks (both sherry): an Oloroso, and a Canasta (which neither of us had tried before).

The Oloroso was fine, but didn’t quite compare to the bottle that Liz got a few years back. We both favored the Canasta, and found it had a stronger/richer presence.

Still recovering, so not quite at full capacity. But happy to be able to taste a little something again, after all this time.
