Door Work, Setting Up the Closet

The front door (and the upstairs porch door), back on horses. Liz started back up on these guys, to given them a final coat of (spar) varnish both.

They need a certain number of coats (on the exterior side), so that they have some protection from the elements. Better to do this now, before they’re installed. It’s been a bit of a rush, with us trying to get this work done, racing both the flooring guys and the impending cold of winter.

I say “us,” but really I mean Liz.

While she was busy with the doors, I was upstairs setting pu the bedroom again.

Bed set up back up, with nightstands (that were stored in the basement) and a cedar chest and TV (which were stored in the bathroom).

Cleaned and several of our clothes bins (which we had stored in Harry Potter), along with an old coat rack, as well as some of our clothes drawers.

All of this I cleaned off by hand, with much of it covered in either regular dust or dust from all the floor sanding and staining.

We’re not quite back to normal yet. We’re now in this kind of quasi-normal state of affairs. We’re still somewhat living out of suitcases, and not yet set up to where our house is back to where it was a few weeks ago.

And it’s weird – in some ways, we don’t want to return to how things were like, a few weeks ago. With new floors now, we’re wanting a bit more permanence. To set things up a bit more long term.
