LX6-02

I’ve noticed this small imprint on the southwest corner of Wells and Wacker before, but today was the first time I took a picture of it. I’m guessing there are a lot of these imprints, pushed into the concrete at various intersections. I’ve got to keep an eye out next time I’m roaming downtown Chicago.

There are similar sort of notes/tags on the bridges near my workplace, indicating when they were last painted or some such thing. I need to grab some photos of those as well.

I just found this idea rather fascinating – the fact that someone out there (architects, construction workers, government agencies) needed to “mark” the city somehow, and made notes using the actual, physical city as easily as I would dog-ear a book.
