Gooses, Geeses

Got a call this afternoon from Jane, who was down by the loading docks during her break. She told me to hurry and bring my camera, because there were tons of little baby geese, wandering around.

After stopping off to grab some cookies from the vending machine, I joined Jane and Bryan – helping to feed the geese.

For the most part, the adults snatched up all the crumbs. After a while, I figured out the best approach – crush the cookies into dust, and throw them over a wide area. This way, both the adults and the kids got to eat.

These geese are all seemingly accustomed to humans. A few days ago, when I was down here, a bunch of the young chicks swarmed me, and started pecking at my leg. Today, the adults got fairly close to me, without batting an eye.

Lots of fun, and I may have to come back here with lunch leftovers or something. Feeding the birds might become part of my routine, during the summer.
