New Space!
So it’s official. Papers were reviewed by lawyers, plans were drawn up, papers were signed. We’re moving.
Again.
Time sure zooms by. It seems like we just moved out of our old space and just moved into our current digs. And now, come April (if we’re lucky), we’ll be moving yet again over to a new location at State and Jackson.
Rey called over and set up a group tour for the day. A few others (Mike, Ben, Justin) have already gotten a sneak peek; but for the rest of us, this was our first time.
Around noon, we all threw on our coats, hopped in some cabs, and made our way over to check things out.
Outside, across the street. The actual address is 247, which I hope isn’t a portent of things to come.
Main area, where all of our desks will be. Almost everything here is going to get torn down or removed. The setup reflects the layout of the prior tenant, but not how we’ll be structuring things. Pretty much everything is going to be redone.
View across the street (DePaul).
A look down the office (I’m standing roughly in the middle, looking down one side).
Mulu and Bee, wandering around.
Rey, looking across the room.
Here’s a great big bonus: we’re a stone’s throw away from the Harold Washington Library. I’ve been there a few times in the past, and am looking forward to being a more regular patron. They’re also extending their hours until 9PM during the week – how awesome is that?
Another building across the way.
It’s always easy to tell where Bryan is.
Another length-view of the main room. Again, I’m standing maybe halfway. Most of the photos I took don’t quite do the place justice. This is a big office (10,000 square feet – almost 5 times what we have now). Crazy big.
Small side offices that probably won’t be here when we move in.
Some of them have rather amazing lighting. In this room (which looked like a classic police interrogation room), you could turn off all the lights save the bulbs dangling from a wire.
What some of you may not know is that, in his off-hours, Chris is actually a rogue cop who loves the law, but plays by his own rules. And here? He’s waiting for you to come inside, sit down, and have a little “chat” with him.
Main meeting room, near the front. It’s got some fancy metal doors that slide open/shut.
Again, not sure if you can tell the size – but it’s a pretty huge room.
Hm. Perhaps I shouldn’t have ended the tour in the bathroom. Oh well. I thought the faucets were rather fancy, and stopped to take a pic.
