Liz’s First Crochet Project

Something that I haven’t been up-to-date on is posting all the various things Liz has been doing, in terms of knitting/crochet. She got into this a few weeks back after talking with some of her coworkers, and she’s been working on projects ever since.

I took a few photos prior to today, but never got around to posting them. I’d say it’s been maybe 3 weeks or so, since she started picking up the yarn and needles.

The sunroom has quickly become her favorite place to work.

I like the look of this photo, as it really captures the feel of our Saturday afternoon – sunlight seeping in through the window, and coffee on the windowsill.

While Liz was working in this tranquil area, I was over on the couch… playing Grand Theft Auto IV.

Liz, working on her largest project so far: a purse.

The purse, fully completed (and with a decorative flower, no less). I’m pretty amazed at how quickly Liz picks up this stuff, and is just able to glean what she needs from books.

Whether it’s her custom bookbinding projects, her fondant cakes or the crochet work… she’s just able to pick things up so quickly.

In addition to the books from the library on crochet, I know she also borrowed one from Jane to peruse over the weekend. I’ve also seen Liz hunched over her laptop, watching YouTube videos and learning from there, too.

This weekend whenever I’ve been “relaxing,” that’s translated to “sitting on the couch with a Playstation controller in my hand.” But for Liz… even when she’s “relaxing,” she’s totally productive.

  2. Yarnshops. NOW.They’re great places to socialize, knit, crochet, get tips, etc, etc, etc.My family knows how to knit and crochet. Tend to spend time at a few yarn shops, mostly one owned by one of our good friends though.Oh yeah. In one of your newer posts I saw one of Stephanie’s Stitch’N Bitch books. Those. Are. Awesome. But yeah. Go to yarnshops. And make it over to Stitches East (huge yarn/knit/crochet/etc) conference if you can. I’ve only been to the West version, but i’m guessing that it’s still awesome.
