Building the First Boot
Bob picked up a new AC coil today – though it’s still pretty chilly out, the AC components also end up getting installed as part of the process. Air conditioning isn’t something we’re really thinking about at the tail end of winter, but this will be nice to have once the weather gets warmer. If it ever gets warmer.
With the basement more cleaned up, Bob’s got a bigger work area again.
Construction of a boot (an oversized boot, to be exact), which will sit directly underneath our floor grate. My understanding is that guys don’t make this stuff by hand anymore – most people will purchase it pre-made. But Bob is pretty old school, and built this from scratch. He also said that we’ll be spray-painting the inside of the boot black, so that when you look down… you won’t see any reflection or light.
First boot – successfully installed. We removed it for the time being, as this first one was just a test. There are a few more to be made, and once we get the floors sanded… these will be officially getting installed. For now, we’re keeping them elsewhere to minimize the buildup of dust and debris.
