Russ and Sarah, Chicago Stopover

On Sunday morning, I was surprised to find myself awake and functioning at 9AM (despite having come home around 4AM). Liz and I ended up going out to breakfast, and around noon we met up with a few online friends of mine. L to R it’s Liz, Jeff (aka persist), Sarah, and Russ (aka baron rushtoff). Hidden away is Sarah and Russ’ boy, Billy.

There was a small mix-up with their actual arrival date, as a small meet-up was scheduled for Saturday (Russ mistakenly told folks they were arriving on Saturday). Sadly we all missed out on seeing Jeff B (aka FlamingoJeff) who trekked down from Madison on Saturday.

Liz and I arrived to see Jeff already seated, and chatting with Sarah and Russ. Well, I guess I didn’t see them at first – as we walked right by as I was scanning the room. A natural challenge, I think, when you mostly know someone through their online presence versus real life.

I was only able to stick around for an hour or so, which felt like it just flew by. I had a blast listening to everyone’s stories, and hearing about what they’ve all been up to. Additionally, I was happy to actually get to meet Sarah in person, as I’ve only seen photos of her online through Russ.

It was too short of a conversation, as I could have stayed have happily stayed there all day with these guys. Really smart, creative folks – and a terrific energy to the conversations, despite how briefly we were there.
