I’m Getting DSL (in Germany)

Starting a week or so back, I began receiving emails from a DSL company in Germany. I’m accustomed to getting email intended for other people named Felix Jung (Google ignores special characters in email addresses, so felix.jung as well as f.e.l.i.x.j.u.n.g arricves in my Inbox)). So when the email is in German, I suspect it’s for some other Felix Jung.
And it’s true in this case – the emails are about a new DSL service being set for someone with my name. THe thing of it is… it’s not just one email, but a flurry of them that have arrived, steadily, over the course of many days.
Using Google Translate, I was able to see that the emails followed along a predictable progression – your account has been created, your service is underway, your service technician is scheduled to arrive.
I’ve been a bit concerned that the intended recipient never got these emails. And thought briefly about trying to contact the DSL company to let them know their user put in the wrong email. But then I thought my contacting them would seem sketchy and weird (and sound like a phishing attempt). And that perhaps, in trying to help, I would cause more problems. So I’ve largely ignored them.
Hopefully, that other Felix got his DSL set up ok. And who knows, maybe at some future date… he might come across this blog post and compelte the circle. That is, if he ever gets online.
