Back Office Demo Begins
Got to work today, doing demo in the back office. I relocated a lot of items a week or so ago, and this back room is now ready for some full-on demo.
I think it’s correct to say that this is the very last room in our house (save the bathroom) that has yet to be fully demo-ed.

I love this little closet, which is basically a door that someone jammed into the corner to create a closet. By code, a bedroom needs to have a window and a closet, and someone found this workaround.
If you open the door, there’s not enough room to actually hang a shirt in the closet (it’s basically a triangle). While there’s a rod for hangers, you have to hang things parallel to the rod, otherwise it won’t fit.
Liz looked up the history of our house, doing a lot of research into old census records. She found several people who claimed this address as their residence, with differing last names. Her theory is that the owners at the time carved up their home into separate rooms, and made money by renting to lodgers.

A lot of old carpeting, on its way out.

A view of the walls, looking into the second floor hallway.

Carpet pulled up.

While we were doing this demo, I didn’t have the heard to pull down the Halloween Posters I’ve had up (since last year).
I loved our last Halloween project, and especially loved the AI-generated posters we made. Wasn’t ready to say goodbye to them.

Wall, waiting for demo.

The paint actually came off in large swaths, which was… weird.

So before the actual demo got underway, I spent some time peeling off these very large, rectangular layers off the wall.

Not sure how the paint was originally applied. But it came off in a somewhat structured manner. Again, weird.

Taking a small break, having a little sit on the floor.

Wall removed, exposing the fireplace brick on the other side.

Plaster down, with the lathe remaining.
