Here’s the same bit of drywall, looking at it from the bedroom. When we first put up all this drywall (the blue stuff is soundproof drywall), the idea was that we’d eventually cut through and make this an entry into the closet. That day, finally, is today.
We had less Visqueen than we thought, but we made it work! After realizing we had a limited amount, we stopped worrying about length and just started stapling things up.

Got a lot of practice, walking over floor joists. It’s been a while, but I feel like my “sea legs” come back fairly quickly.
This took a bit longer than usual. When working in the other areas of the second floor, there was always some ceiling drywall in place to catch all the debris. Below me is our kitchen, and all I really have is just a few plastic sheets, stretched across the floor joists.
An interesting tidbit: Liz looked up a lot of census data related to our house, and found a lot of individuals (with differing last names), all registered to this house/location.
Her theory is that the homeowners split up the top floor into smaller rooms, specifically with the intent to rent them out (to help bring in income). Which is why so many of these second floor rooms were so small.
Made a bit of a mess. The worst part of demo: the dirty insulation still up in the ceiling, that has nowhere to go but down (on either you on the floor, or both).
Liz and I were back at the back office demo, today. Picking up from where we left off.
Liz suited up with me today, with the two of us tackling more demo work in the back office. Made a bit more headway into the ceiling.
Got to work today, doing demo in the back office. I relocated a lot of items a week or so ago, and this back room is now ready for some full-on demo.
