Breakfast and Botany

Today was meant to be a lazy day. We woke up somewhat early, to catch a breakfast before the crowds showed up at Plein Air Cafe.

Then afterwards, we were heading home… but decided to swing by Botany Pond, to check out the ducks and turtles.

On arriving, we were delighted to see that the restoration had been completed (we visited in 2023, and the construction was still underway).

Some really incredibly landscaping and paths.

A placard, honoring Vijayarani Jotimuttu Fedson. I don’t know the people involved here, but I was reading these details like a story. Despite not knowing the details, I found this quite moving.

Exploring the new pathways.

On looking at the concrete around the perimeter of the pond, as well as the placement of the stones… it’s like it was designed to tempt children to walk around here.

I feel like the groundskeepers and the landscapers/architect were at odds on the end result.

Things were pretty quiet – no sign of much activity.

Well, except for this guy. Who seemed like he was looking out over his vast domain, or waiting around for his friends to arrive. I guess it could be both.
