Lonely Commute
Last Friday was pretty cold – when the temps got as low as -11F, with wind chill getting into the negative 30s. While I’m used to Chicago winter and cold days, last Friday was one of those “stay inside unless you’re out of food” days. Dangerous cold.
But today? Yes, cold and unpleasant. And maybe creeping into the negative teens with wind chill. But again – Chicago. It’s a rough, cold day… but something you expect, a few times over the winter.

This morning though – on my whole way in, it was a ghost town. Barely anyone at the local Stabucks. Barely anyone on the Metra downtown. And barely anyone on the CTA platform.
I learned later that school was cancelled again today for most of Chicago, meaning that a lot of parents probably had to stay home as well. So overall, fewer people downtown.
I’m still adjusting to commuting in to work. I wouldn’t do it on days where the weather is dangerous, but days like today are… annoying. Partly because of the cold, partly because of the lack of other people in the office.
I guess the plus side is, lots of sets on the trains.
