Snowy Chicago

When we got home last night, there was a dusting and the start of some snow. We were home around 8PM, and I took the liberty of clearing the sidewalk before going inside.

That seemed to help, as when I woke up this morning… there was a decent amount that had fallen down.

A lot of what fell down was soft and didn’t stick too much to the sidewalk. I was able to clear things pretty quickly. But the thing is – the snow just kept on coming.

I thought we might get a little weather. I thought we might get an inch or two. But as closely as Liz and I have been watching the weather, we expected most of the heavy stuff to pass by – and would hit further south/east of us.

But the snow just kept on coming, all day.

I was out a few times clearing the sidewalk. And made a trip for some groceries, and also trekked out to Ace Hardware for some firewood (I brought a dolly with me).

At several moments outside, I paused. Because as hectic as it’s been lately, the gentle falling of the snow today was just lovely to watch. And it felt good to pause, however briefly, and pay a bit of attention.
