Year of the (Psychedelic) Rabbit
With the Chinese New Year bringing in the Year of the Rabbit, I was reminded that we have a bottle of Oban 10 (a new bottling that’s part of Diageo’s Special Releases for 2022).

Tonight, Liz and I ventured out again to a SMWSA event at the Franklin Room. There were a lot of bottles available (due to it being the release right before the holidays)… which meant there were a lot of things to sample.
We missed the last SMWS tasting at the Franklin Room (which was on October 31). Which was unfortunate, because it was either whisky or Halloween… but Halloween ended up winning.
After our trip to Scotland, and our discovery of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Edinburgh, Liz and I have become enamored with the Society’s cask strength bottles.
We didn’t realize that this was a paired tasting. With us on Keto, Liz and I mostly picked at the cheese and meats and nuts. It was hard to turn away the chocolate.
L to R: Glenrothes 18, Whisky Maker’s Cut, Glenrothes 25.
This is going to actually be a fairly busy week for us (socially, as well as whisky-wise). Think of this as a little bit of a pre-game night, before some big events.
The basement wall project has been… all-consuming, for several months now. While we still have some follow-up tasks remaining, the core fill was the biggest, final step in that project.
I’m still not sure I’m recuperated from that whole thing.
Brasso on one side, a dram on the other. And some bunny rabbits in the distance, to round it all off.
We’re planning on introducing the Scotch Malt Whisky Society to the Denlers this week, and Liz was taking the matter incredibly seriously.
