Year of the (Psychedelic) Rabbit

With the Chinese New Year bringing in the Year of the Rabbit, I was reminded that we have a bottle of Oban 10 (a new bottling that’s part of Diageo’s Special Releases for 2022).

I texted Liz immediately when I spotted this in the store. Yes, it was in small part for the psychedelic bunny… but the rarity of this very new/different offering from Oban is what stood out.

We like Oban (and made it a point to visit the distillery, on our trip to Scotland). It was very surprising to see something new from them, and to top it off… this release was cask strength! Something we’d never seen or tasted before.

While I do like the standard Oban offerings (whose ABV are in the upper 40s), the cask strength really is very tasty. And I might go so far as to say I prefer this. Which is a little dangerous, because I have no idea if Oban has any plans to keep producing cask strength bottles (outside of this particular special release).

Hope we don’t have to wait another 12 years.
