Luke, I Am Your… Mother

I woke up this morning to find a comment left on blog: it was from MJ Kim, who was the mother in one of the Flickr photos I used in my 20×2 presentation. What a random and lovely surprise!

Turns out, she knows some of the 20×2 folks to boot. How random is that?

In case you missed the Chicago event, here’s a recap. The premise behind 20×2 is that 20 people are asked to answer a particular question. The question changes at each event, but folks are able to do whatever they wish – dance, paint, tell a story, read a poem. The only catch is that each presenter only gets 2 minutes.

At 20×2 Chicago, our question was “Who Knew?” And for my presentation I turned to Twitter and Flickr. I would search Twitter for posts containing the phrase “who knew,” and then try to match those posts with CC-licensed photos on Flickr. My rules for Twitter: no retweets or links. My rules for Flickr: I could only search using words from the Twitter post.

That process led me to this post on Twitter, and then ultimately to MJ’s photo on Flickr.

I’ve been thinking back on this project recently, so this is a nice excuse to share the video once more. I had a blast working on it, and enjoyed myself immensely at the night of the event.
