Katachi, by Shugo Tokumaru: Elaborate Stop Motion Video Made From 2,000 Cutouts
Katachi is a catchy song by Shugo Tokumaru (official site is in Japanese, so you might prefer Wikipedia). It’s perfectly paired with an amazing music video, which you should totally watch full-screen if you can.
Created by Kijek / Adamski, the stop-motion animation was made with about 2,000 silhouettes extracted from PVC plates using a computer-controlled cutter. The timing of the animation is spot-on, and the combination of the music and visuals resulted in me just smiling the whole time, watching this thing.
I was reminded of a lot of other videos and art I’ve posted about, while watching this (notably, Jen Stark’s paper artwork, as well as that one with the time-lapse of dripping paint).
Japanese bands make some really awesome music videos…
