A Pile of Tiles

This weekend, Liz and I popped in to Rebuilding Exchange for a quick look around. We were in the area, and decided to stop in to pick up some cheap carpet tiles for the rabbits.

With our wood floors, it’s difficult for them to really hop around. And if they get a burst of energy, it’s doubly hard for them to run around without a good stretch of carpet.

We have some carpet tiles in their pen area, but we thought about increasing their area a bit more (and even extending it into the kitchen). So we grabbed a few 20×20 tiles (for $2 each).

As we were looking around, Liz spotted some floor tiles that she thought might work for our basement area. We dug around for a good while, relocating boxes in search of enough to cover the area we needed (approximately 175 square feet).

The color we wanted (a darker purple) didn’t pan out, due to us not being able to find enough tiles. But we got a lighter color, and scored about 5 boxes (with 45 tiles per box). The kicker? Each box of tiles was $10!

We have a ways to go yet, before the back basement area is ready. But we got a great deal on these tiles, and they’ll go down once everything is all set up.

While there’s street parking on Webster, Liz and I parked around back. I’m glad we did, as we got a really cool view of the bridge nearby.

Note: I’ve got a ton of photos, from when we first visited Rebuilding Exchange back ion February. Never got around to posting those, but will try to do a recap post this week. It’s a really great org, and a very cool space – check it out if you’re in the area!
