Daniels: Turn Down for What (Anatomy of a Music Video)
So. There’s this video. For a song called “Turn Down for What,” by DJ Snake and Lil Jon.
The video is… interesting. It doesn’t feature any nudity, and is technically not something you would classify as NSFW… but let’s just say you prooobably don’t want to be playing this video on your monitor while at work.
The video is directed by Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan (known collectively as Daniels)), and actually stars Kwan as one of the main characters.
If you haven’t seen this video yet, I’m torn as to what to suggest. Because this post is more about the making of the video, which is pretty entertaining. But it may help to see the video first.
I’ll let you decide. The “Making Of” bit is below, and the full video is shown after the directors talk about the process. So you can wait to watch the video until the end.
Or, you can experience the video for yourself and watch it first.
I have to tell you – this is not the type of stuff I typically post on here. I remember seeing this video a long while ago, but rewatching again this past weekend… I found myself just mesmerized by it all over again. It was like the sun – I couldn’t look away.
It’s over the top, it’s amazing, and it’s something that’s stuck with me for over 24 hours… so it felt like something worth sharing.
Hm. Unsure why that embed has no control options. If you prefer, you can view it on Vimeo.
