Fountains of Wayne: Fire Island

I happened across (or happened to remember) the band Fountains of Wayne, about a week or so ago. I remember their album, Welcome Interestate Managers, but haven’t really listened to much beyond that one album.

I’ve been playing it again on my commute, to and from work. And so many of their songs on this album – incredibly catchy, and just a lot of fun. I’ve been listening to the album a lot, and the hooks even make their way into my brain when the music is off.

As an example of that fun, here’s “Fire Island:”

A close second was Halley’s Waitress, which is probably the best musical shade ever thrown at a server (I just want some coffee, / is that too much to ask? / Halley’s waitress / is not up to the task.)

The whole album was a wave of nostalgia (weird that I’m thinking of early 2000’s as nostalgia), and just still super catchy after all this time.
