Scotch Tasting, Curated by Liz
We were over visiting Uncle David, Aunt Beth, and Lauren for an evening of scotch tasting tonight (Liz had asked for preferences, and curated a selection of bottles she felt folks would like).
On arriving, we were greeted with this amazing charcuterie board, thanks to Lauren. Which, to be very honest, looked better than actual meals that I’ve prepared.
A bit later, Uncle David arrived with takeout from a Scottish restaurant (I’m blanking on the name, but I’ll need to circle back and update this later). Amazingly, it was a place that Liz had visited once… and where she had her first flight of scotch. Very fitting!
We brought over a selection of things to try. And were also gifted a nice bottle of Nikka!
Liz, sharing some of the background on the bottles and the bottlers. I say this in all seriousness: I think she’s very close to being able to host her own (paid) tasting sessions.
A lot of Scottish fare for dinner tonight: scotch eggs, shepher’s pie, neeps and tatties, fish and chips. Combined with some very nice drams.
While I held back a bit, being the driver, it was really fun to share some of the bottles and things we’ve explored from and after our trip to Scotland.
And for me, it’s a joy to watch Liz light up, when she talks about whisky. She enjoys drinking it, but also equally enjoys sharing and talking about it.
