Walking Around Hyde Park

Today Liz and I decided to have another slow day, where we ambled around our neighborhood a bit more. Despite our working from home since the Pandemic started, we’ve really not been “out and about” in our neighborhood very much. Lately, we’ve wanted to change that.

Spotted this porch on our walk.

The Flowers’ House.

Stopped in at 57th Street Books.

Such a great layout/space inside.

The shelves just make you feel like you can get lost, here.

Walking back home, spotted a very old Com Ed building.

The age of the architecture was a stark contrast against the newer signage.

Stopped at several points to admire the flowers we encountered.

This bit of wiring, outside a building complex, looked troubling. Liz said she spotted some leaves/debris inside. On closer inspection, it appeared that a bird had set up a nest inside.

My thought on hearing this: “I hope it works out well for everyone involved.”

After resting a bit at home, we headed out for dinner outdoors at Ascione Bistro. I’ve been drinking whisky exclusively for some while now, but decided to splurge and had a martini.

Our dinner: Liz got the fish of the day, I got the Tagliolini (hand-made egg pasta with black truffles and cream). For a side, we got roasted brussels sprouts.

While I’ve only been here a few times, I can’t not get the Tagliolini (because of the black truffles).

Roasted brussels sprouts, the only way to prepare them.

Liz’s entree.

For dessert, a bit of ice cream…

and a pretty large slice of chocolate cake.
