Deer and Beer
In the late afternoon, Liz called me over to the window. But did so in an urgent, hushed voice. Just outside, there was a small group of deer grazing on the yard.
The momma deer, ventured to this area and stayed here a while.
We had a really good vantage point with the window by the side of the house. We were just out of view, and got a really close view of the deer, grazing and nibbling on grass and leaves.
The original crew was three deer (the mother, and two younger kids). They were eventually joined by two other deer, with some geese swimming by in the lake behind them and a squirrel darting by along the concrete path.
Busy, busy day in the backyard, here.
Fast forward to the early evening. Liz and I pulled ourselves away from our computers, and went into town to grab a beer at Fetch Brewing Company.
There were only a handful of patrons there, besides us. As we sipped on our beers, three people from another table moved with their instruments and began practicing Christmas carols (using a miniature guitar, a mandolin, and a ukelele).
Given the low key nature of the bar (they were playing Metallica and Who songs earlier, softly)… this was a lovely transition. While Liz and I are more homebodies, this particular outing seemed more our pace – relaxed, low key, which just a bit of holiday cheer throw into the mix.
