Whisky Tasting in the Suburbs

Apparently, there was this big whisky collection… thing, at Costco. Shaped like a collection of books, and each book filled with drams from various distilleries.
Originally, the idea that Liz had was to use this as a kind of uber advent calendar. But as it turns out, several friends got the same item… and decided to use it as the basis of a whisky tasting event.

So we trekked out to the suburbs, each of us with a large book in tow. And just like it was in high school, the book was actually filled with high quality liquor.

Lots of books. Lots of glasses. Lots of fun.
I didn’t take a ton of photos tonight, but it was a lovely time as always visiting Najwa and Joe (along with Michelle, Michael, and Fritz). We also got to meet Cricket and her husband (whose name I forget, but he was hilarious and crazy quick with quality jokes).
After the tasting itself, we actually ended up hanging out some… and ended up playing a round of MOnikers, believe it or not. It turns out Nawja and Joe recently played the game at a friend’s house, and picked up a copy. Small world!
I swear – every place we’ve played this game, the folks we’re with end up buying a copy. If you haven’t tried this game yet, give it a go! It’s easy to learn the rules, and magical in how well and quickly it allows for inside jokes to be created.
We stayed later than we intended, as we looked up and it somehow got to be past 11PM. But worth it. A good indicator of having a good time is losing track of time.
