Visiting the Bunnies at Animal Care League

Yesterday after work, Liz and I went over for an appointment at Animal Care League (where Liz Rench works as a staff member).

Sad to say it – I was on call at the time, and was getting paged for some backend services. I ended up working on the computer a while (made all the more difficult given the massive layoffs that just took place). So I missed a lot of the interactions – but was able to snap a few photos here and there.

Liz in the bunny room, trying to coax out a rather shy bunny (she said it reminded her a bit of Daisy).

I got some close-up photos of some of the bunnies, who were very curious about me. This is Mary-Lou (who I liked on spec, and is on Liz’s list).

A rather shy bunny named Patches.

Who came out ever so briefly. But when I tried to go for a quick pet, darted away back into the box.

Not sure of this guy’s name – also quite shy.

Anther bunny that was hanging out with Liz (hard to tell, but this is her “It’s just too cute” face).

The bunny was overly attentive, but that kind of dissipated after treats were removed from the equation. But then, a little later, the bunny kind of came back. So it’s a little unclear if there’s a connection, or if this bunny just has a connection to snacks.

Today was a first pass, just for us to meet the bunnies. The ultimate test will be in a few days, when we return with Hugo and he goes on some bunny speed dates. He will end up being the final decision maker, but it was a lovely chance to hang out and meet a few contenders tonight.

We’re big fans of Animal Care League. This is where we found Daisy, and it’s fitting that we’re back here to find a companion for Hugo now that Daisy’s gone. If you are considering adopting (or being a foster), get in touch at animalcareleague.org.
