Men in Trees

A few days ago, ComEd stopped by to look at the trees in our backyard. They had gotten a report from some neighbors about the trees growing into the power lines, and they were wanting to investigate.

With our recent fence removal work, it was easier for them to walk down our driveway and bop across the various backyards. While they are all covered up with plywood and bricks, I still made sure to warn them about the post hole holes.

Well, today they came back. And when I peeked outside to see what was happening I was surprised to find not one but two guys removing tree limbs. While up in the trees!

A little tough to see, but they’re up there. Both of them.

I spent most of my work day sitting in front of a computer. There’s a part of me that marveled at working outdoors for a living, and climbing trees being part of my resume.

I’m sure the weather isn’t always pleasant. And there’s a lot of danger involved. But in my head, I could hear both of these workers saying the same thing: “Beats sitting behind a desk.”
