A day or so ago, Liz and I were driving down South Lake Park Avenue, and got redirected. Turns out, there was this enormous crane situated in the middle of the road… and was in the process of lifting up trees to a nearby rooftop.
So this thing happened, on my way to work. And it involved $300. Well, maybe.
Let me explain.
A block or two away, I passed by this lovely vehicle just parked along the street. It felt like a good moment for a photo, and I dug the car enough to stop running and slow down to just capture the moment.
Spotted this on the way home. At first, I was taken aback – not sure if this was something left out accidentally. Or something left on purpose for anyone else to take, because it was no longer needed.
I don’t know whether to be happy or saddened that Prometheus Elmo has found a friend. Elmo is starting to show his age, and Iron Man now seems to be along for the ride.
This feels like the start of some kind of Marvel/Sesame crossover movie, where I’m hoping Big Bird and Wolverine team up for some kind of rescue.
On my way home from work, I happened to spot someone in the distance. There was a lot of waving.
On my run today, I passed by a building that had just a ton of scaffolding set up along the exterior. There’s so much of it, that the work to get the scaffolding itself set up seems like a job in and of itself.
Hot day – everyone’s really thirsty.
Was out in front of the house, when I spotted these two bold buddies on the sidewalk. I froze up a bit, encountering these street toughs, a bit unsure of my own safety and well-being.
Whenever rival gangs like this meet up, I never know what to expect. Knives? Gunplay? Some kind of dance off contest, for control of the block?
It’s nice to know that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Take this Wisteria, which we noticed sometime last year in 2023.
It was just a wee thing back then, but had just started to branch out (see what I did there).
Excited to see La Boulangerie is opening up here. We enjoyed them in Logan Square, and love the trend of Logan Square businesses appearing here in Hyde Park.
While it’s been better for me to not have easy access to croissants and breakfast pastries, I’m excited all the same.
Liz had a busy day of errands today. In the midst of things, she stopped by next door to finalize some window repair, for our neighbor Carol Jean.
I’m used to there being rabbits in our backyard (I have a feeling they know our house is a bunny house). But it still throws me, to see rabbits being so bold, walking down the streets late at night.
A pretty big fallen limb, which would have been a sight to behold as it fell.
I thought there might have been some stronger winds that day… but I didn’t notice anything (I was inside, on a computer all day). But apparently… we got some weather.
In a silly turn of events, while we were having new windows installed at our house, Liz was over at our neighbor’s house, helping to repair a window.
