Snow Day

Woke up this morning with a good amount on the ground. I’d heard there was going to be a lot of snow over two days (and possibly some colder temps, turning things to ice). All this got me out the door around 7:30 AM to get a jump start on clearing the driveway and sidewalk.

What these photos don’t quite capture is how much was still coming down, as I was outside. And there would be the occasional gusts of wind that would pick up the fallen snow, and would be near white-out conditions for a few seconds.

At some points, it was hard to tell where the sidewalk ended and the yards began.

Stood in the middle of the street for a little while, and it was incredibly peaceful. Not a lot of traffic or people anywhere, and just super quiet.

Also – was pretty awed at the snow on the branches. The snow just kept coming down today.

A bit later on in the day, I think. I came out a few times today, and each time… as I was walking inside, it looked as though I hadn’t done anything at all to the sidewalk or car.

Snow came up pretty easy, so definitely glad to have gotten a jump start on it. Nothing worse than having snow compacted down by pedestrians, and needing to scrape up the icy/solid mess bit by bit.

Even with some shoveling, it’s hard to tell where the yard ends and the sidewalk begins.

I like our bird fountain as a kind of snow gauge. I feel like we got a lot more than what shows on this guy.

Fun to compare today with what happened in 2018.
