Critical Care

After switching to a new vet, we’ve taken Phineas off of a lot of his prior medications (many of which were deemed unnecessary).

He’s lost a lot of weight recently, despite getting some of it back… and we’re now on a regimen where we’re trying to give him 60 mls of Critical Care daily (spread out over the day).

Phineas has been somewhat picking at his greens. And sometimes he’ll take a bit of Critical Care. But when he’s hesitant, we end up having to encourage him a little (and force feed him a little, as needed).

It’s a difficult thing to do, because we can tell he’s not feeling great. But he also looks so dang cute, when he’s being fed.

He’s not been doing great, though. And definitely needs the Critical Care.

For those who don’t know, Critical Care is a powder supplement that you mix with water, and is something a little easier to digest for rabbits. It’s not meant to be a replacement for greens and hay, and tends to be something used in extreme circumstances (when GI stasis causes the rabbit to not want to eat).

We need to get his weight up, and hope these daily feedings will get him back where he needs to be. Poor little buddy.
