Lower Stair Work

Some follow-up work beneath the stairs today. Took a bit more of a manual approach for this area. Originally, I was going to try to use the sawzall, but it ended up being too unwieldy and overly powerful for this kind of work.

While I was at Home Depot early this AM, I opted to buy a handsaw (something we actually didn’t have at home). This ended up being the right tool for the job. Just a bit more elbow grease than anticipated.

Here’s something silly – on this side of the wall (where there’s no drywall yet)… we’ve taken to using it as a glorified storage area. We have colloquially referred to this as Gordon and MacPhail’s.
As in: “Have you seen the descaler for the coffee maker?” and “Have you looked in Gordon and MacPhail’s?”

Part of my task today was to clean this area up. Weird to remove everything, and to stop thinking of this area as a shelf.
As a side note, this was similar to the experience I had, shortly after graduating college. When I had to stop thinking of the floor as “a large shelf.”

A bit of a before image, in anticipation of drywall.

Liz spent time cleaning up our front office area. We’re expecting to clear out our main bedroom soon, after the drywall is done (but before the sanding). Our goal is to get some touch-up work done in that room, so we’ll be temporarily moving our bed and everything into this space.
