End Table: Fitting

Today, we fitted all our pieces together, so that we could measure and fit the bottom shelf and tabletop. We’re actually ahead of schedule today, and ended up having a more laid back pace.

I’ve been a fan of the project for many years now, and discovered my first sticker during my first year of the blog – way back in 2002. It’s been amazing to see how much the project’s grown in the last ten years, and how one little sticker with three words has spread out all across the world.
The first YAB sticker I saw was way back in 2002, while walking around Chicago’s Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods (the original stickers had a completely different look to them).
Spotted a You Are Beautiful sticker while getting an early morning coffee last week, over at New Wave. I saw my first sighting of You Are Beautiful very close to the time that I first started this blog – over ten years ago, way back in 2002. It was a surprising encounter, and something that shifted me outside of my routine – a small bit of brightness that brought about a smile, unexpectedly.

Found out over the weekend that the You Are Beautiful project website got a nice redesign. There are a ton more photo galleries added, and lots of shared photographs to explore.
Users can now sign up and register to be part of the site, and interact more with the content. A neat feature is a global map, allowing folks to upload and tag their own photos of the project in the wild. So far I’ve seen a few mentions of stickers in Russia, Belgium, Holland, Ireland… it’s pretty awesome.
A bunch of folks from work were going to attend the Chicago Street Art show in Pilsen… so a few of us made plans to have dinner beforehand, at Skylark. It had been a long while since I was last here. I think it was back in 2004, during the Pilsen Art Walk. Had fond memories of the place, and…
The Chicago Street Art Show opens this Friday at the Chicago Urban Art Society. Doors open at 6PM, and the event goes until 11PM. The show itself will feature work from over 30 artists, and span the past 10 years of the Chicago street art scene. There’s also going to be a wall set up, where I presume many of…
