Travel Day, Scotland to Chicago

Early morning breakfast, on our last day in Edinburgh.

A lot of logistics for us today. We fly out of Glasgow, so this meant driving the hour from Edinburgh to Glasglow, stopping to add petrol to the car, before then dropping it off at the airport.

At the airline counter, the woman who checked us in noted that we were just barely under the 72 hour requirement for our tests. “With 5 minutes to spare” were her words, which verified my suspicion we needed to really be specific about our test times, a few days ago.

The sad thing? Beyond the woman at the counter in Glasgow, no one else really asked to see our negative test results. Even on arriving in Chicago, no one looked at any of our paperwork (beyond our passports). Good for us I guess, but it left me feeling unnerved in terms of how many unvaccinated people are arriving at O’Hare on a daily/hourly basis, with no one really doing any kind of checks at all.

A cab ride later, we were home in Hyde Park. We left at 1:40 PM Scotland time, and landed around 7PM Chicago time (which for us was closer to 1AM Scotland time).

We got home to find things just as we had left them, both of us tired and ready for some takeaway and then straight to bed.
