Morning Run
Liz and I went on a run together today. It’s… well, it’s been a while.
Liz has gone out on her own a few times. But for me, I think it’s been at least 2 weeks or more since I’ve actually put foot to pavement. I was definitely out of practice.
The first mile was really rough. I was pushing myself, and I could feel the run getting away from me. I tried to slow down, somewhat successfully… but it was a struggle.

After the first mile, it still felt rough. Rounding Promontory, we paused briefly to walk… and I got a photo of a balloon I spotted, in a nearby tree.
Liz let me set the pace for the last bit home. And while I ran fairly steadily, she let me know that I had actually increased our pace. I was just struggling to keep at a steady tempo, but apparently I was doing better in this last leg.
Out of it all, it felt like a struggle. Maybe, maybe the last 15 minutes felt better/ok. I was able to keep a consistent pace for the last 1/4 mile, but it was still not anything remotely close to easy.
I actually miss running. So far, the light and the cold have cut down my opportunities and enthusiasm for running before/after work. It’s felt like the weather has shifted somewhat, with a bit more light now and slightly warmer days. It would be nice to start running somewhat more regularly, once again.
