I learned his name was Alex, and that he was a student. He told me the device was something he made for his “Real-Time Systems Class.” It was something that allowed him to manipulate audio and video. He mentioned a few more technical things, which I didn’t quite remember.
I noticed the top of the box had a picture of an old Sega… and so I asked if the insides were made from an old console.

Well, I’ve only go half the story for you on this. I was walking to the Jackson Blue Line stop, on my way home… and I spotted this guy near the middle of the platform.
Not only was he holding up a cardboard sign, he also had messages printed out on both his jacket and his backpack. On the back of his jacket, I believe the text was: “Jesus says I have the keys of death.” I don’t remember what his backpack said.

I can’t help but imagine that someone hit a certain frustration point, and decided to just up and trash the stroller right there and then. There was no folding up, no trying to fit it inside…

While I was going over older blog posts over the weekend, trying to do a bit of cleanup… I came across a mention of the Blue Line Artist I encountered with Chris, last July.

I’ve seen this guy on the Blue Line before, but finally got the nerve to take a photo of him at work. He seems to pop up on my car I’d say once every month or so, with his David Lynchian hair and his fistful of pens/pencils. He usually carries a backpack with him (which…

On boarding the Blue Line on my way home, I found an open seat in the front of the car (the kind that’s isolated from the rest of the seats). I sat down quickly, and started playing some games on my iPhone. After a few stops, I rested my left arm on the ledge by…

After some quick post-work drinks with Justin and Ben over at Villains, I walked over to the LaSalle Blue Line stop. I noticed most folks were staying near the stairs, and the other half of the platform was relatively empty. Headed over and snapped a few photos. There was something about the lights on the…

Last week, I noticed that the tunnel between the Jackson Blue/Red line was full up with repeating ads again. The gauntlet has returned. Last time Flip ads appeared everywhere, the ads were isolated to the walls. And all the floor ads were near the State street exit. This time around, it feels like every inch…

I was waiting for a Blue Line Train at the Jackson stop yesterday evening, when the strangest thing happened. The car that pulled up to me was completely dark. No lights were working on the interior, and the whole thing was mostly empty. I think there were maybe 3 or four people sitting there, in…

Yesterday, while walking between the Red and Blue Line tunnel at Jackson, I noticed that, once again, all the ads in the tunnel were advertising the same product. This experience though, wasn’t nearly as unsettling as last time. For one, all the posters are slightly different, featuring different faces. And I’m actually liking the tone…

Several times a week, at the Jackson Blue Line stop downtown, there are performers singing or playing instruments, entertaining the crowds to and from their way to work. I’ve seen Morris (found out his name today) many times, and even mentioned him here once before. While I have heard him sing before, I’ve also heard…

Birds of a feather. Snapped this shot while looking out over a parking lot, at the Damen Blue Line stop. What first caught my eye was that these birds were perched on the wall itself, literally clinging to the brick. I watched them for a good while, fluttering from wire to brick, flying across the…
