Lazy Saturday
Liz and I have both needed a lot of sleep, lately.
She ran a pretty long run yesterday. And me, I’ve been waking up pretty early most days, starting work a few hours before 9AM. I’ve gotten pretty tired, by the end of the night, and have definitely needed more sleep (despite my body waking itself up early, most mornings).
Today, Saturday, we decided to sleep in. I woke up early (circa 6:30 AM), but was able to force myself back to sleep. We ended up sleeping in until around 10AM or so, which is pretty huge for both of us.
By the time we got up, fed the bunnies, and got dressed… we decided we wanted to venture North to Lula’s for some brunch. We figured that the morning rush would have come and gone, and we’d have no trouble getting a table.
We were wrong.
On arriving circa 11AM, we learned that there was about an hour twenty wait before a table would open up. We put our names down, and decided to just roam around the are for a little bit.
We were headed to New Wave, but ended up walking by La Boulangerie and decided to pop in.
Fun side note: they’re opening up a location in Hyde Park, not too far from us. Very exciting!
Liz and I both got cortados, and also got a few macarons to tide us over.
A view of the interior, from our table.
After our coffee and snack, we wandered over to browse around at City Lit Books.
A fun idea/display: blind date with a book.
A tempting gamble.
Fast forward a bit, and we got to our table at Lula’s. While we were waiting for our breakfast, we had some coffee and a pastry. Neither of us were familiar with it, but quite enjoyed trying out the Malted Vanilla Bombolone.
I had big plans of working on the house today. But it seems that the universe was intent on us taking things slow, and spend most of our morning and early afternoon in Logan Square. And so we did.
By the time we got home, both Liz and I were still pretty tired. So we followed up our late breakfast with an early afternoon nap. And it was glorious.
Not a lot accomplished today, but a lot of rest. A good Saturday, all in all.
