Emmis Reunion, Shamrock Club

Last night, I got a text from Chris with a last-minute invite: AJ was going to be downtown, they were going to meet at the Shamrock Club and did I want to join? To see both again was a no-brainer.

With my back injury, I’ve been working 100% from home (the long walk from the Metra would kill me). But today, I cabbed in and to attend a farewell party for my boss Ryan. And then hobbled my way across the street to the Shamrock.

On arriving, I saw some familiar faces. And then another. And then another. It actually took me a minute to recover, because I was just completely unprepared to see so many old, friendly faces.

L to R: AJ, Chris, Tim, and Jane.

And oh my – even more old friends! L to R: Renata, Mike, Walt, and Sean.

It’s difficult to express just how amazing it was, to see all of these lovely people again, after so many years. The best I’ve come up with is that my heart felt very full – full to overflowing. It’s a sensation I don’t think I’ve had in quite a long while.

How wonderful, that all these people are still interested to share in one another’s company – all of us having first crossed paths at a company, over a decade ago. We all worked together for a period of time, and while the job is no longer there… we still make an effort to see one another. I’m quite moved by this, and quite moved to be included in these gatherings.

I have quite a few posts related to Emmis Interactive, spanning from around 2002 to 2012. From poker games and dangerous toys to Friday Challenges and Ping Pong tournaments (long live the Pingmaster trophy). We even got some kickball action in the mix (if you watch no other video – make it this one).

Lots to explore.
