“In 2014, I was living in Bogota, Colombia in a neighborhood called La Soledad. The name means ‘loneliness’ or ‘solitude.’ And it was a fitting place for me to live. Loneliness is something I’ve felt much of of my life. And while I feel it sometimes when I’m alone. I feel it much more often when I’m with people.”
We ended up talking a lot about travel, about writing, the things we do for money and the things we do for meaning. I learned that he’s heading to teach English abroad in Thailand, and will be departing the States once more come Spring/Summer.
On Friday, I met up with Chris and Sandra post-work, in Wicker Park. All of us were gathering beforehand at a nearby bar, prior to heading to Emporium Gallery to check out Brian’s book release (and the first night of his photography exhibit).
