Liz the Accountant, 2020
Liz, getting our taxes in under the wire. Her desk setup is a little crazy at the moment, in that she’s still working out of our dining room post-demo.

With me changing jobs last year, and the codes changing… we ended up returning to our accountant, Jim Kamin, to handle our taxes this year. I’m still getting used to the new building and location, but it’s definitely a bit more convenient for us (though I still do miss that lovely old office). While waiting…
Thankful once again that my wife handles our taxes, and has a more number-inclined mind than I do.
I mean sure, I could go back to school again and get a Master’s of Science in Applied Statistics… but since Liz already has one, I figure why bother?
While some things are the same from this photo circa 2013, a lot has changed. We’re no longer in our lovely apartment in Logan Square, and have been living in our new home in Hyde Park for nearly two years.
This year for our taxes, though we went to the same guy (Jim Kamin), we went to a totally new location. He’s no longer in Old Town (having sold that fantastic office), and set up shop on South Jefferson, on the west side of downtown.
Given my strong dislike for all things financial, I totally lucked out. Being married to someone who has a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics definitely has its benefits.
Though my wife is really good with numbers, I wanted to have our accountant handle our taxes this year. Having gotten an official check from Google and also receiving a $1,000 cash grant, I wanted to make sure we had our bases covered.
Each year that I do taxes, I always take a photo of my accountant, James. Since we filed jointly last year, I guess this makes him our accountant. With Liz and her background in Math, she’s been used to doing her own taxes (and did ours individually, back in 2008). With us filing jointly for…
As is my tradition, I took a photo of my accountant (James C. Kamin) when we met to do my taxes. I’m not sure what prompted me the first time, but I’ve done it before in the past… and Jim’s alwasy been a good sport about this. The difference this time around when we met?…
I was successfully ahead of the tax deadline this year, and met up with my accountant James Kamin tonight to get my taxes in order. I say accountant, but it’s not like I’ve got tons of assets to manage – James is someone I see once a year to handle my taxes because, quite honestly,…
This is embarassing for me to admit, but here goes. I haven’t done my taxes yet. Although, to be specific, I guess I should say that I haven’t done my taxes yet since 2004. Yeah. Told you this was embarassing. But – today’s the day to fix all that. I was given the name of…
